Fashion Predictions 2018: What to Wear in the New Year

fashion predictions 2018

Happy New Year, friends! Not sure about all of you, but the new year in Chicago started off quite cold. [sce emoji=”snowflake”/] But when has a -12F temp outside stopped us from looking ahead into the year and trying to predict all the fashion trends coming our way?

These are our fashion predictions 2018. Are you ready?

Stock up on Céline

Céline mania will be in full swing, now that the queen of minimalism, Phoebe Philo, is officially leaving the brand after 10 years. And there’s a chance that she will not be returning to fashion, so the time to stock up on all your Phoebe Philo for Céline is NOW. Odds are some of her most popular pieces will sell out much faster than seasons prior.

It’s Scrunchie Time

Not sure how we feel about this one, but according to many 2018 runways, the 80s hair accessory will be the IT accessory this year.  Seen in Balenciaga and Mansur Gavriel’s recent collections, the scrunchies are making a comeback, whether you like it or not! At least among twentysomethings.

Lavender

Who says fashion doesn’t follow the pantone of the year? From Proenza Schouler and  Max Mara to Bottega Veneta and Victoria Beckham, soft shades of lavender are quickly replacing millennial pink in 2018. We are loving the pantsuits and jackets at Max Mara and Bottega.

PVC to the Max

If Karl Lagerfeld sends almost every model covered in PVC during Chanel’s Spring 2018 runway, you better be sure that PVC will be huge in 2018. Personally, we’d wear everything he showed: raincoats, boots, hats, all of it.  Calvin Klein and Yeezy also dipped their designing toes into the plastic trend.

90s Urban Vibe

If you think the 90s fashion resurgence is going anywhere, think again. There was a huge 90s urban vibe happening across major catwalks for Spring,  and windbreaker/parka/anorak jackets took over.  We love the super casual versions at Public School, and the dressier takes at Oscar de la Renta.

What are your fashion predictions 2018? Do you think ours will come through?
