The 10 Best Spring 2019 Collections from Fashion Month

best spring 2019 collections

Fashion Month has finally come to a close, and  after hundreds of runways shows and  presentations,  we’ve pin-pointed  a few key shows that went above and beyond in terms of craftsmanship, fashion-forwardness and design. We have chosen the 10 best  Spring 2019 collections  from the four fashion capitals to highlight. So let’s just dive right in:

Louis Vuitton Spring 2019

Nicolas Ghesquière  dabbled in sci-fi and offered a multitude of compelling looks. Colored jackets with rounded shoulders, gender-blurring “spacesuits” disguised as pants-and-shirt combos, impeccable minis with overstated shoulders, and one hell-of-a-white-lab-coat that is made in our dreams.

Valentino Spring 2019

Do you guys have the feeling that ever since the departure of Maria Grazia Chiuri from Valentino in 2016,  Pierpaolo Piccioli  has blossomed at the house and has produced a knockout collection after a knockout collection? Spring 2019 is no different, because we can all look to Valentino for elegant sportswear and evening wear that take our breath away.  And how about those hats!?

Dries Van Noten Spring 2019

We swear Dries Van Noten is one of the most under-appreciated designers.  He does color like no other, but this season he showed us his craftsmanship with whites, like the opening number of an all-white cargo-pants-and-trench-combo, perfectly juxtaposed against a see-though bright yellow shirt. Showstopper.

Ralph Lauren Spring 2019

Not only was this Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary in fashion, with the most star-studded audience (hi, HRC #stillwithher; hi, Oprah!)  fashion week has seen in a while, but it was his best show in a while.  As the father of American sportswear,  this was  a show which was more of a victory lap, celebrating the American sportswear lifestyle he created.

Balenciaga Spring 2019

The noise and distractions of the world were perfectly captured in the psychedelic video tunnel that greeted guests of Balenciaga, forcing to really shift their focus on the clothes.  Strong shoulder, nipped-waist coats, two-piece evening suits, and a red dress cut from a single piece of silk, make us believe Demna Gvasalia has finally found his footing.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2019

Despite its one-hour-and-a-half late start — and annoying the shit out of Anna Wintour — Marc Jacobs delivered a spectacular collection. Major 80s throwbacks, voluminous silhouettes, and that Jacobs rage that we’ve known and gown to love. Add feathers and froth, and you have a magical collection that ended NYFW on a high note.

Prada Spring 2019

Of course Miucccia Prada will be on our list of best spring 2019 collections. How could she not? From biker shorts and A-line tunics to babydoll dresses, Prada kept us on the edge of our seats waiting for more. Cue in the callback of the Prada triangular logos, and add the circular skirts, cashmere sweaters and double-breasted jackets, and we have a winner.

Marni Spring 2019

This collection was made for the artistic and intellectual woman. She loves the canvas-like ensembles, the off-whites, and painting-like silhouettes.  That’s exactly what Marni’s Francesco Risso did, in a Spring 2019 line filled with paint and naive painted flowers, pops of raspberry and blue in the collage-y prints, and  wonkily lopped-off biker jackets. *Insert slow clap here.*

Victoria Beckham Spring 2019

Victoria Beckham celebrated her 10-year anniversary in fashion by taking her spring 2019 collection home, to London. Right from the first look — a white trouser suit paired with a silk cami and silver boots, worn by Stella Tennat — VB set the tone of an elegant, clean-cut and chic collection that is one of her best so far. Some have criticized her for being too much like Phoebe Philo and the old Céline. We say, she may have taken inspiration from Phoebe, but VB’s simple aesthetic has been her signature since she debuted ten years ago.

Christopher Kane Spring 2019

Power-shoulders in tailored jackets, and Tess with the slogan “Sexual Cannibalism” made one thing clear — Christopher Kane is here to liberate women and let them dress for themselves and nobody else. In the video above, be sure to note the red lace midi with a crystal bodice, and tell us it doesn’t make you feel excited.

Let us know if you think if other shows should have made our best spring 2019 collections list!
