Editor’s Picks: 7 Fall Trends I Have Added to My Wardrobe This Season

From chic tailored coats to the pop of the occasional red, I have upgraded my wardrobe with these 11 fall trends that are sure to make this season my best dressed yet.

Double-Breasted Gray Coat

Gray is one of the standout colors of the season and the hue doesn’t get better than in the form of a warm, structured, double-breasted coat. My pick comes from COS and is crafted from an insulating wool blend, shaped with a double-breasted close and designed with oversized notch lapels. Something Red

Red is the other stand-out color of this season and I prefer it as an accent, in a form of accessory, rather than a whole red ensemble. My pop of red comes in the shape of a bag from Mango, but I am also eyeing a pair of red boots. If you are not into the cherry red color, you can opt-in for a muted maroon or burgundy.

A Good Trench

It doesn’t get more classic than a good trench. Probably the most versatile topper of them all, trench coats do double duty for fall and spring. My choice this fall is a gorgeous, stone colored Max Mara trench of my dreams, which is unfortunately sold out (here’s a similar one) When shopping for a trench coat, look for well crafted details: solid lapels, well crafted pockets, good structure.

Dressy Flats

Fancy, statement flats are the it shoe of the holiday season and inasmuch as I am obsessed with the Khaite Marcy crystal-embellished mesh flats, dropping $800-plus on a pair is simply not feasible. So this Steve Madden option did it for me.

Denim Maxi Skirt

I didn’t think in a million years that I will get back to the maxi, denim, front slit skirt but here we are. I absolutely love it. The best thing about the denim maxi skirt is — much like jeans — it can be dressed up or down. Throw a blazer over a cosy turtleneck and knee-high boots, or a hoodie with your favorite kicks — it all works.

Knee-High Boots

This season the knee-high boots come in many versions: biker-inspired, Western-inspired, kitten heeled, and thick soled. I opted for a timeless kitten heeled boots from Everlane, but am also realllly digging the biker-inspired version as well. Bottom line is, whatever your preference is don’t forget that a good boot is an investment.

The Extra Long Scarf

Well, if you listen to Lenny Kravitz you’ll know it’s time to bring out your XL scarf, babes. And if you’ve followed the Fall 2023 runways, you’ll know that designers took inspo from Lenny. Also known as blanket scarf, it is probably the most prominent accessory trend of the season and you better believe it I am into it.
