NYFW Runway Report: Georgine Fall 2017
It was all about party dresses from Georgine Fall 2017, and interestingly enough Georgine Ratelband drew inspiration from all the glamorous people visiting hotels around the world and making them their homes. Hotel dwellers, she told us backstage. In fact, each of the 32 looks from the collections was named after a hotel somewhere in the world: Coco Chanel’s suite at the Ritz and Oscar Wilde’s chambers at the Hôtel d’Alsace to Howard Hughes’ bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Edie Sedgwick’s room at the Chelsea Hotel.
Quite a spectacular concept, to say the least, because it translated into a succinct and cohesive collection filled with great party dress after a great party dress. Ms Ratelband is really finding her groove at this point. On-trend metallics paired with mesh or lace worked particularly well, as did the gorgeous coats topped with fur collars or accented with fur sleeves and capes. Â Wouldn’t you want to be decked in one of these designs and hop over to The Ritz?
