NYFW Runway Report: Georgine Spring 2017
This was Georgine Ratelband’s best collection yet and that’s thanks to an inspiration that relates to fashionistas of today. Inspired by the type of girl who shops at Bergdorf Goodman AND Trash & Vaudeville, the Georgine Spring 2017 line was grunge (hello gorgeous shaggy bobs & red lips) meets Nirvana with a touch of glam, and we couldn’t get enough of it.
“I think it is a more interesting concept of dressing, one where luxury goods coexist with Rock t-shirts, intricate Couture beading meets motorcycle jackets and lightweight furs are punctuated by combat boots,†said Ratelband.
The young designer also drew inspiration from the way that young women always pilfer the closets of their mothers, and how they would wear more classic pieces, but with their own twist put on it. Specifically, Frances Bean Cobain and Zoe Kravitz, who have mothers with the most incredible closets, came to mind for Ratelband when designing this collection.
Like we said, Georgine’s best collection yet and the beauty look was out favorite from the entire NYFW. And that’s saying A LOT.
