NYFW Runway Report: Naeem Khan Fall 2017
The Naeem Khan Fall 2017 collection blew our socks off. Plain and simple. Inspired by the spirit of the women Khan has met during his travels, the fall line from the designer epitomizes a new Khan woman: one that is equally comfortable making a statement on the red carpet as she is killing the street style game.
Is this the Khan version of the millennial woman? Because if it is, we dig it. Starting from the opening look — a linear beaded jacket and pant combo worn with lacy black bra — to the bomber jacket and velvet drawstring pants that followed, it is clear that Khan is courting the younger crowd. And who could blame him? After all, many designers have shifted in that direction as millennials are picking up purchase and social media power.
Stretch velvet, floral embroidery and  animal print were at the core, and they came in the shape of cocktail dresses, a beaded and embroidered coat, animal print lined jumpsuit and a few very impressive fringe dresses. That’s not to say there were not the signature Khan ballgowns  - the long sleeve embroidered one with ruffle cuff and velvet applique took our breath away, and the closing look — a metallic ballgown was nothing short of spectacular.
