Runway Report: Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2018
“I paint flowers so they will not die.” – Frida Kahlo
This is one of the most beautiful quotes from the famed painter, who was known for being fiery and independent. And for next spring, Cushnie at Ochs drew inspiration by Kahlo’s paintings and persona. The collection was pretty, yet sleek; minimal, yet complex; strong, yet vulnerable.
The urban feminine aesthetic that Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs became known for was strongly represented by a vibrant floral print onto a sheath dress, while the Latin American feel was seen through charming ruffles added onto pants and off-the-shoulder tops.  But perhaps our favorite was a chic black slipdress with rich floral applications.
But despite all the prettiness and airy feeling of the collection, that’s not to say that the designers did not offer plenty of sex appeal.  Case in point, the very first look which was a corseted little black dress worn with embellished thigh-high mesh boots, from the  designers first collection of footwear, which ranged from thigh-high boots, to sleek slingbacks and flats.
