Runway Report: Milly Spring 2018
The Milly Spring 2018 collection was presented at the newly minted Milly pop-up space in Soho, which, adorned in flowers and rainbows indicated the optimistic state of mind of designer Michelle Smith. And of course, so did the clothes.
Where there is fragmentation, there is growth, said the show’s notes. In the face of uncertainty, strong we can stand — beautiful in figure and form. It is incredible to see how much impact the election has had on designers, and for the Milly woman, it was time to embrace her femininity and come out stronger than ever. All that positivity was reflected onto the coolest shirts, including a reverse button-up with voluminous peasant sleeves.
Elsewhere, it was all about the midriff, like a white button-down with ties around the sleeves, paired with  and off-white slouchy pair of pants with a crinkled waistband. Skirts were reminiscent of floral petals, blooming in layers of fabric.
After all, it was all about the strength and sexuality of a woman and her ability to embrace beauty.
