Runway Report: Naeem Khan Spring 2018
It’s not too often that designers get inspired by a prima ballerina from 19th century Russia. But that was the case for Naeem Khan Spring 2018 collection, where the designer found his muse in Anna Pavlova, the ballerina who created the iconic role of The Dying Swan, a balletic masterpiece  inspired by the love of her pet swan. Khan’s secondary inspiration was a tropical vacation he took, so at the end of it all he created a completely swoon-worthy ballerina-on-holiday collection.
A pleated tulle off-the-shoulder dress, and embroidered kimono with a lace bustier and tuxedo pant, a lace corseted gown with yellow tulle skirt, a silver floral one-shoulder gown…and that’s jus a small fraction of the 38-piece lineup that will appeal to Khan’s more established customer, as well as to the young influencer types looking for a sparkly dress.
But perhaps the most impressive of the whole collection was the finale: and embroidered ivory ball gown with tiered raffia fringe (in fact, you can see it walking in slow motion here)
Khan has alway had a flare for the dramatic and romantic and his spring 2018 was no different. Â I doubt anyone minds.
