What to Wear This Season: Spring 2022 Edition
Our spring 2022 trends review is here and boy does it have something for everyone. From bold colors, to mini skirts, the return of Y2K and 1990s fashion to sexy, sexy cutouts, here are the top Spring 2022 trends you might want to bookmark.
Sparkles
Sequins, glitter you name it, if it sparkles it’s the thing to wear for spring. Designers across the global runways brought out the best shine on the runways: From Loewe’s and Rodarte’s all sequin dresses, Tom Ford’s sparkly Bermudas, Versace’s minis, and Brandon Maxwell’s subdued sequins, don’t save sparkly clothes for the parties. Wear them as everyday clothes and shine on!
Bra as Top
If you are bold enough to wear your bra as a top then this trend is for you. Many designers ditched the shirts and crop-tops, and let models down the runway wearing their bras as tops. It did make for a sexy and some-may-say, comfortable, look. You can wear the trend by simply adding your favorite triangle bra to a high-waisted skirt, or drape your favorite coat over it.
1990s
My Xgennial heart is rejoicing: 1990s fashion is back, baby! Namely thanks to Virginie Viard at Chanel, who resurrected the quintessential 90s Chanel show, flashbulbs included. Donatella at Versace even sent a version of the famous 90s Liz Hurley safety pin dress. Other designers threw a hint of grunge in their collections, which let’s be honest, is the ultimate 90s throwback.
Yellow
Smooth, mellow yellow is the color of the season. On the runways, it came in many iterations: gorgeous maxi dresses ala Proenza Schouler, full-on yellow looks as seen at Max Mara and Chanel, crochet two-pieces like the ones at Jil Sander. You of course, can copy it all, or make your own yellow ensembles by adding yellow accessories.
Y2K
Much like to comeback of the 90s, Y2K fashion is back in full swing thanks to low-low-lowwww rise pants, skirts, paired with teeny-tiny crop-tops. I am sure you have seen this viral Miu Miu look seen on every influencer in the the world. But I digress. Many designers embraced the trend, including Isabel Marant, Coperni, Missoni, Dolce & Gabbana, and others.
Mini Skirt
You better start toning your legs — or not! — because the mini skirt is the it garment for the spring/summer 2022 season. It has been a hot minute since we’ve seen a true mini on the runways, and I am here for it. Christian Dior sent mini skirt suits, Versace and Loewe added high slits to their minis, and Prada showed the softest pink minis certain to be most wanted among the street style set.
A-Symmetrical Cutouts
The trend continues to go strong and spilled over the Spring 2022 runways from the SS21 season. Many, many designers across the globe showed their iterations – Roberto Cavalli, Balmain, Christian Siriano, Stella McCartney, just to name a few.
Bold Colors
Powerful reds. Lime greens. Striking blues. Poppy yellows. Bold pinks. Strong, saturated colors popped all over the spring 2022 runways in many a ways: acid green dresses at Valentino and Erdem; gorgeous pink pantsuits at Versace; Striking reds and orange pieces at Saint Laurent. The great news is there’s a color for every taste, so go for it.
