The Top 10 Fall 2016 Trends You Can Actually Wear
Trends are a finicky thing. They are cool, they are new, they are exciting. But let’s face it — many trends are also kooky and weird and will never make it past the runway and in real life (like the extra-wide shoulder trend that swept the Fall 2016 runways). For this season’s trend report, we are focusing on the top 10 fall 2016 trends that you can actually wear.
Not only are these trends accessible, but they’ll be easy to shop (on that, a later post). From a royal color that’s back on every runway, to a few new coat styles that will satisfy the elegant and sporty types, peep the post below for all the fall 2016 trends you should know this season.
Brocade
The evening lush fabric is making appearance in day wear and we could not be happier. From Miu Miu to Dries Van Noten, brocade should be the fabric of your choice this season.
Military
The military jacket or coat is this season’s must-own layer piece. And what’s even better? For fall, designers combined the trend with highly wearable items in mind. Case in point, the Coach ensemble below.
Off Duty
The athleisure trend that started a couple of seasons ago continues, but this time elevated, as seen here by Louis Vuitton. Or toned down even more, like the looks from rag & bone and Versace.
Patent
If you thought last year’s patent resurgence was shiny, think again. PVC popped everywhere and came in the shape of dresses, jackets, coats and more, and looser than ever – which we love.
Plaid is back
The classic print is back, but this season it comes more colorful, wearable and versatile.
The Puffer
This trend is for all of us who want to embrace a sporty-chic look this winter. Quilted puffers came in bold colors and voluminous. Perfect for winter.
The Color Purple
The color of royals is certain to brighten up any gloomy winter day. From dresses, to sweaters opt for the rich hue if you want to stand out.
Corset Love
An undergarment as a statement-making overgarment? Why not? Outer corsets came in a variety of shapes, lengths and looks that ranged from laced-up and romantic to sculptural and modern.
Velvet
If there’s one fabric we choose to invest this season, it’s plush velvet. And luckily designers brought velvets that come in every grand shade of fine jewels.
Wild Cat
Remember minimalism? Well, consider the leopard print your new neutral look.
