Fall 2022 Recap: The Biggest Takeaways From the Global Runways

The Fall 2022 runways were in full swing for a month, and now that fashion month is over all we want to talk about is what will be new come next fall (yes, I know we are all gearing up for Spring right now but fashion’s gonna fashion.) So let do a quick recap of the best fall 2022 looks and exciting trends of the new season.
In many ways, fashion went back to basics across the global runways. Gone are the minis, the logos, and wacky prints of recent seasons. Instead, designers opted in for intellectual and beautiful clothes: Loungewear was replaced by cohesive tracksuits (Gucci’s Alessandro Michele partnered with Adidas; Tory Burch showed knitted track jackets paired to perfection with fitted trousers and geometric prints.) Leather got a major overhaul as well. Miu Miu, ACNE Studios, Diesel, and more brands found an alternative approach to leather — thicker, worn-in materials that have an edgy sensibility to them. Those were some of the best fall 2022 looks.
The season was not without a glam and flair though. Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Sacai, and more extended hemlines to floor-sweeping lengths for fall 2022 (gone is the Miu Miu super mini) And if you need extra height, Rick Owens and Altuzarra have the platforms for you.
White shirts and jeans combo is probably the most quintessential American uniform and many designers leaned into the combo: Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, Balmain, Brandon Maxwell, Telfar, and others. At the opposite end of the white shirt/jeans crisp combo we saw sequins, shimmer and crystals and brands like Simone Rocha, Erdem, Miu Miu, Carolina Herrera, Bottega and Fendi all presented their version on glitz.
