Kobi Halperin: “I Love Women, and I Love My Customer”

Watching Kobi Halperin with his customer is mesmerizing. He is so attentive, gentile, friendly and accommodating that one feels surrounded by the best care, and the best of fashion. And that is precisely what’s so unique about the designer — his authentic relationship with his customer.

Knowing how to treat his customer has come from almost two decades of experience in the fashion business. Halperin moved from Israel to the US and broke into American fashion as the creative chief first at Elie Tahari, and then at Kenneth Cole. He left the big leagues in 2015 to launched his own, eponymous label only three years ago, and in his first year sold at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom, among others.

For fall 2017 Halperin has launched an exclusive collection for Neiman Marcus, Erté X Kobi Halperin. It’s inspired by his travels to St. Petersburg, Russia and his visit to The Hermitage Museum, which at the time was hosting an exhibition about Erté. The city and the exhibition struck a chord in Halperin. The collection retails between $328 and $1,598 and is available in 25 Neiman Marcus stores, including Chicago, as well as neimanmarcus.com. We met with the designer during his launch in the Windy City and we chatted inspirations, customers and why an authentic connection with the Halperin woman is a must for the designer.
