4 Trends to Note from London Fashion Week Fall 2018

London Fashion Week fall 2018 trends

This season’s London Fashion Week certainly made a lot of headlines, most notably because HRH Queen Elizabeth II made a surprising appearance at one of the runway shows, and the fashion world literally lost their shit.  The second non-fashion noteworthy moment was the fact that Anna W sat FROW next to the Queen and…wait for it…. smiling.

But you are here to learn about the top London Fashion Week Fall 2018 trends, so here we go:

Silver on Silver Metallics

Much like their NYC counterparts, the London designers embraced the full-on silver look. There was space-age tinsel Marques Alameida, crazy-cool head-to-toe metallic looks from MM6 at Margiela, and a feminine twist of the trend at Erdem. From all this silver on the runways one thing was clear: Next season, it is all about standing out in the crowd.

Lush Brocades

Leave it to the Brits to bring back opulent, old-world brocade to the runway. After all, jacquards are the quintessential British heritage fabric. And it took on many forms this season—in a striking lampshade jacket at Mary Katrantzou, an oversized coat at Simone Rocha, and a tailored suit at Christopher Kane. Weighty, metallic executions of the theme were carried out at Erdem, Roland Mouret, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.

Under the Rainbow

Inasmuch as not everyone picked up the rainbow looks, Christopher Bailey’s last-ever Burberry collection was all about celebrating LGBTQ and offered and abundance of standout, “see now, buy now” rainbow looks. Wait until street style gets a hold of this trend.  Mary Katrantzou also showed a rainbow palette, but a much more muted one. And over at Ashish, rainbow colors got mixed with sequins for an even stronger form of the trend.

Colorful Plaid

From buttercup yellow to classic red, the beloved plaid  showed up time and again on London’s runways—as a skirtsuit with a puffer at House of Holland, as a gorgeous red suite at Emilia Wickstead, and as a blanket coat at Roksanda.

What do you guys think? Would you be wearing any of these London Fashion Week Fall 2018 trends?
