See and Shop the Most Wearable Fall 2018 Trends

Who’s ready to  break out fall sweaters and gear? *raises hand*

It’s be solid five months since we last saw the Fall 2018 trends, and let’s be honest — we need a refresher. So below we’re recapping the top Fall 2018 trends you should not only know about, but trends that are actually wearable (we all know there’s some weird sh*t that’s come down the runways). But we digress.

From animal prints and neon, to super sparkles and super-sized outerwear, check out FashionFilesmag.com’s official guide to everything we plan to wear this fall, ahead. Plus, a few shopping suggestions.

Safety First

Utilitarian chic has always been a thing in fashion, but this season designers took it to another level. Protective garments really took off thanks to Raf Simons at Calvin Klein who showed us how to look good in a fireman’s coat; or Miuccia Prada, who used neon and reflective colors. Junya Watanabe, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela all got in on the trend too.

Clueless Plaid

Plaid has also been around for several seasons at this point, but, this season’s plaid is more fun than ever. Think Cher Horowitz of the 21st century, and get excited because we are getting colorful plaid by way of Versace, Michael Kors, and Prada. As if you’d wear anything but plaid this fall. [sce emoji=”tongueout”/]

The 80s are Here

Statement shoulders, short dresses, punk feels. The 80s are here in full swing, and almost every designer was behind the trend. From the oversize outerwear at Marc Jacobs, acid wash at Miu Miu, or super minis at Saint Laurent, Balmain and Balenciaga, the most divisive style decade is back with a vengeance. And we are not mad.

Animal Print

Leopard print? Check. Zebra print? Check. Giraffe print? Check. Yes, all the animal prints are live and well this season but under a more exciting, and colorful iteration. We saw technicolor animal prints cut in every silhouette, spotted at Tom Ford, Adam Selman, Bottega Veneta, Alshely Williams, Dolce & Gabbana and more. After all, leopard is a neutral, right?

Super-Sized Coats

Well, Siduations did put it very well at the end of last season, no? Overtly large coats are big for this season, and probably one of the most prominent of the Fall 2018 trends. But, inasmuch as they are a Joey Tribbiani from Friends proposition, they are also highly coveted, and lets face it — practical.  Could I be wearing a bigger coat?

The Wild Wild West

Many, many designers want us to saddle up this fall and we are thrilled to see cowboy boots, practical fringe, wide shoulders, yoke detailed shirts, neck scarves, rustic belts and bolo ties. Isabel Marant, Alberta Feretti, Chloe, DSquared2, Louis Vuitton, Heremes, Calvin Klein, Coach, David Koma, Max Mara and many more gave us their version of West World, and we are here for it.

Colorful Tights

What is could inject a dose of fun on a dreary autumn day than wearing a pair f colorful tights? Many designers offered various versions of the trend with colors ranging from neon greens, to yellows, blues, orange and pinks. We love the all monochrome looks from Emilio de la Morena and Dolce & Gabbana, and the power clashes at Jeremy Scott and Hader Ackermann.

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Move over Kira Kira because we might not need your enhancing abilities any more! Designers brought out the high shine for fall, with sparkle and shine seen at Erdem, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel, Anna Sui, Alberta Feretti and more. Wear the trend head-to-toe, it’s okay. Plus, hello NYE outfit 😉
