The 2026 Met Gala is finally upon us, darling — and the anticipation is absolutely everything. The world’s most luminous stars are descending on the Metropolitan Museum of Art, led by a co-chair lineup that could stop traffic: the iconic Beyoncé, the eternally chic Nicole Kidman, and the incomparable Venus Williams.

This year’s theme? A full-on love letter to fashion itself. The exhibition, Costume Art, boldly places what we wear on equal footing with fine art — and honestly, it’s about time. Running from May 10, 2026 through January 10, 2027, the Met’s stunning new Condé M. Nast Galleries (nearly 12,000 square feet of pure sartorial heaven) will showcase hundreds of works that center the dressed body alongside thematically paired fashion pieces. The evening’s dress code, Fashion is Art, invites guests to treat themselves as the canvas. No pressure — just the entire art world watching.

As for how guests might interpret the theme, the exhibition’s own sub-sections offer some delicious direction. Expect a wave of Hellenistic drapery for those drawn to classical silhouettes, anatomical explorations for the more avant-garde crowd, and — given our collective obsession with naked dressing right now — plenty of inventive nods to the nude body. Sheer, sculptural, barely-there: it’s going to be a moment.

Beyond the co-chairs, the host committee is stacked with serious style power, including Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello and the effortlessly cool Zoë Kravitz. And the guest list? Simply iconic — Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Alex Consani, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult will all be making their artistic statements on the carpet.
