Despite the fact that the future of the runway show — and Fashion Week in general — is in jeopardy due to the global pandemic, the couture fall 2020 collections have been quietly rolling out in the past week or so. What would usually be a high fashion high glam week in Paris, has become a digital-only affair without any of the glitz. All you need a Zoom link, really.
That is not to say that the clothes were not spectacular. A few things to note: Dior released a miniature couture collection. Yes, a line of dresses no one can wear but dolls maybe? Nonetheless the craftsmanship and detail are incredible. Balmain showed a couture fall 2020 stills that included a plus-size, person of color. Major props for size and race inclusivity, Balmain! And lastly, Iris Van Herpen recruited none other than “Game of Thrones” actress Carice van Houten to emote in the Transmotion dress. The night is dark and full of couture 😉
Peep through a handful of the looks released, and do come back often. We’ll be updating this post as more designers release their couture collections.
