Style-Crushing on Soraya Pena of ChicFlavours

This month’s Style Crush feature is all about the wonderful and very colorful Soraya Pena of the fashion and travel blog ChicFlavours. We met Soraya during a style event in the Windy City and the minute we laid eyes on her we knew we must introduce this bubbly gal to you. So read on and find out what makes her tick!

FashionFiles: Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get into fashion and blogging? How long have you had your blog?

I was born and raised in Venezuela then later moved to Chicago to pursue a BA in Hospitality Management. After living in Chicago for about six years my husband and I moved to Abu Dhabi, and now I split my time between both cities. Chic Flavours started out of a combination of boredom and my interest IN fashion! I went to school for Hospitality Management, but always had a strong fascination for fashion. Starting a blog gave me the opportunity to explore my creativity and share my passion for clothes, colors and travels with others.

FF: Describe your personal style?

I love the combination between sexy and elegant. I like being on-trend and adding a little “flavour” to every outfit, but always keeping my outfits true to myself, feminine and classic.

FF: What are your style words to live by?

My mom always say, “en la variedad esta el gusto” which translates to, “ variety is the spice of life.” One day I might be wearing a lace jumpsuit, the next day a pair of skinny jeans and over the weekend wear a LBD for date night with my husband. I love keeping my readers guessing!

FF: Who are your style icons?

Carolina Herrera and Blake Lively

My go-to Sensi Studio fedora, a white summer dress and a white button down shirt.

FF: Whose wardrobe would you swap with in a heartbeat and why?

Olivia Palermo! Olivia Palermo seems to have such a wide variety of items in her closet, either cute Ferragamo flats while she walks her dog or beautiful high-end pieces.

FF: What is the best piece of shopping advice you’ve ever received?

Always ask yourself how many times would you wear this before buying it.
